Shelfari … a way to support literacy.

October 17, 2008

This may be a stretch but one of the media specialists I work with showed me Shelfari and I think it’s a great way to promote literacy in your school. What is Shelfari? Its a network where you share the books you have read, are reading, and plan to read with others on the Shelfari network. The cool thing is it places your books on a bookshelf and allows you to create a widget to put anywhere.

Do your teachers have class webpages? Why not have the teachers create a shelfari for their webpage to show students what they are reading. OR create a shelfari for the media center with the favorite books of students. (Hot reads of the month.)

Take a peek at their blog… its full of literacy information.
